We are still in the ICU. Avery started running a low grade fever yesterday (normal for babies after surgery), but today her temp has jumped to 102 degrees. She also had to receive another blood transfusion overnight. We were anticipating more progress by now, but her incision looks great and her swelling has been minimal, so we are winning on some fronts!
Neurologically, she's presenting well. Her eyes still have not swollen shut completely, so when she wakes up, she responds to my voice and engages me as much as she can, even swatting at our suction catheters when she sees them coming towards her trach. She's a little spunky... I have NO IDEA where she gets that. Hehe.
Thank you for your continued prayers. Maybe it's one step forward, two steps back, but we're making PROGRESS and isn't that what this is all about? :)
